Step 1 – Donations Are Received & Carefully Checked

Every item donated to Babes in the Wood is individually checked for quality, cleanliness and safety.

We assess whether it is:

  • Suitable for direct referral support

  • Suitable for resale in our community shops

  • Or unsuitable and unable to be used

Only items that meet our standards are passed on to families or placed in our shops.

Step 2 – Items Are Sorted for Maximum Impact

Accepted donations are sorted by:

  • Age and size

  • Season

  • Urgency of need

Clothing and essentials are allocated to referral packs. Toys and equipment are safety checked and cleaned where required.

Our aim is always dignity, quality and suitability for the child receiving them.

Step 3 – Supporting Families Through Referrals

We work in partnership with trusted local agencies including schools, health visitors and family support workers.

Referral packs are provided free of charge to families experiencing hardship.
Where essential items are not available through donations, we use our funds to purchase them.

No child should go without basics such as warm clothing, footwear or essential baby items.

Step 4 – Community Shop Sales Sustain Our Services

Items suitable for resale are sold in our Bishopbriggs and Stirling community shops.

Income generated helps cover:

  • Rent and utilities

  • Insurance and compliance

  • Equipment and safety testing

  • Waste disposal

  • Volunteer training and development

As a not-for-profit social enterprise, all surplus is reinvested back into supporting children and families.

Step 5 – Investing in Our Community

We are committed to:

  • Developing our volunteer workforce

  • Providing training and meaningful experience

  • Reducing landfill waste

  • Strengthening partnerships across our local areas

Your support helps us build a sustainable, community-led baby bank that continues to grow responsibly.
